Scholarship recipient:
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity that I have been given by your foundation.  I lost my son to a vaccine reaction over 16 years ago.  A very big passion of mine is to help others.  I have started out my career in the medical field when I was 15 years old and I’m working to graduate with my medical assisting certification.  School has been difficult in the fact that I have to work, raise three wonderful children, and I have had to keep up with my homework and class time, aside from studying for exams.  I want to again thank you for allowing me to have a little freedom to fulfill these dreams. Thank you for being here for us students and thank you for helping me!”

Scholarship recipient:
“I can’t express how thankful I am to receive any funding to help pursue my future career in nursing.  I am in the nursing program with a 3.8 GPA as a single mom of three young boys.  Two of three boys have special needs and require in home after school care.  Nursing school is stressful enough without worrying about bills that come with children.  This scholarship will prevent me from having to take out student loans this quarter.  Thank you for your generosity and sincerely thank you for honoring me with a scholarship.”

Scholarship recipient:
“My lifelong dream of attending nursing school is moving forward, thanks to generous educational scholarships like yours.  I am honored to be one of the recipients of the Jernigan Foundation Scholarship and I deeply thank you for your financial contribution to my education.  Unfortunately, my son was born with breathing problems, compelling me to put my aspirations on hold for seven years to take care of him.  As the first person in my entire family to attend college, I am truly ecstatic to be focused on my career goals again.  I am proud that my son and daughter are watching, and I hope to model for them what it means to be a dedicated and successful student.  My educational pursuits would not be possible without generous support from scholarship sponsors like your organization.  Thank you for enabling this opportunity!”
